This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In this training, the basic principles, rights, and obligations outlined in the GDPR will be addressed, with the aim of empowering participants to understand and interact with this Regulation. Through practical examples and case studies, trainees will explore how the GDPR applies to different industries and sectors. The main topics covered include consent mechanisms, rights and duties of the parties involved, and enforcement of the Regulation rules.

Graça Canto Moniz

Graça Canto Moniz is data governance chair at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa.

She’s a member of the expert group of the European Personal Data Protection Board since 2022. In 2023, she was appointed by the Portuguese government to coordinate the national data strategy.
Graça Canto Moniz has a PhD in Public Law from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (2019) and an MBA from INSEAD (2022). He is also CEO of FUTURA, a consultancy specializing in cyber risk management.
